The phrase "burning your ships" dates from 1519, when a Spanish expedition led by Hernán Cortés landed in Mexico. Cortés knew his crew was already exhausted after the long sea journey, but he had to motivate them to succeed in the new land. So he ordered the scuttling of the ships they arrived in. The ships burned.
But ... today we don't allow ourselves to be vulnerable anymore.
... in no area of our lives.
We always have a backup plan.
... or backup plans.
Unfortunately ... in love stories too.
And ... even if all is ok ... or even amazing ... still being under the dominance of our silly fears .... we come into a point ... when we simple waste amazing opportunities.
We are playing too much .... in safe mode.
... not allowing us to experience life at its best levels ... because of fears.
Most certainly ... we don't understand the expression ... "Burn the boats ..."
And we will never will.
Or even if we will understand it ... we can't really apply such theoretical concepts into the real life.
Cause ... the ugly truth is that ... we can play only in safe mode.
... without taking absolutely any risks at all.
